Stirrup (Old-School 24XX Roleplaying Game)
A downloadable TTRPG
Stirrup is an OSR roleplaying game that uses the 24XX dice resolution with Inventory and Magic inspired by the system Cairn. It features:
Principles of Design: my goals for what I wanted the system to be while making it.
Principles for the Referee/Players: best practices for running the game smoothly.
Core Rules: simple dice mechanic that allows for risky play and prioritizes discussion and positioning over math and abilities.
Quick Character Creation: get the game going quickly while still having players feel different from each other.
Deadly and Cinematic Combat: all about how you attack, rather than just rolling dice. Also featuring some example monsters and a small framework for making them.
Spellcasting: ripped straight from Cairn, featuring the 100 Spell list.
Advancement: options for character progression and training, both mechanically and diegetically..
High Compatibility: use Stirrup to run any module you might have. As long as you can describe a monster's dangerous tactics or a spell's mythical effects, you can run it in Stirrup, little to no conversion necessary.
Currently, Stirrup contains the Basic rules to run and play the entire game. More optional rules and advice will be featured in the Advanced Stirrup version, which I will be updating as I make it.
24XX was created by Jason Tocci.
1400 was created by Unknown Dungeon.
Cairn was created by Yochai Gal.
